NORTHERN CALIFORNIA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should know that a beach hazards statement remains in effect through 4 p.m. Tuesday along the coastlines of the San Francisco Bay Area, according to the National Weather Service. There is an increased risk of sneaker waves, strong rip currents and breaking waves up to 20 feet high along the coast.

"The dry pattern continues with periods of strong offshore winds and hazardous beach conditions this week," NWS San Francisco forecasters wrote Sunday.

In other news, three people were killed in a crash that happened during a suspect pursuit over the weekend, authorities said. In another pursuit, a fugitive was arrested after a high-speed chase.

A man accused of pointing a firearm at another driver was arrested with a 1-month-old child in his vehicle, police said.

Plus, the California Highway Patrol warned the public to beware of fraudsters posing as "AMBER Alert representatives" offering to "register" children. AMBER — which stands for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response — is only activated by law enforcement agencies investigating reports of an abducted or missing child.
