Jazz Mafia Will Perform In Downtown San Francisco As Part Of A Free New Year's Day Block Party (secretsanfrancisco.com) — Downtown San Francisco will kick off 2026 with a free New Year’s Day Downtown First Thursdays block party along 2nd Street from Market to Howard, starting at 5 p.m. San Francisco’s own Jazz Mafia headlines the main stage from 7–9 p.m., alongside dance halls, karaoke, bingo, a pet psychic, and a free “Circular City” symposium, plus nearby free-resident hours at SFMOMA.
   

2. Another PG&E outage left over 6000 customers without power in the Sunset (missionlocal.org) — Thousands of San Francisco residents near Golden Gate Park and the Sunset briefly lost power again Saturday, with traffic signals out and intersections to be treated as all-way stops. PG&E restored electricity by midafternoon, while also detailing storm preparations and reminding customers of bill credits after last week’s massive citywide blackout.
   

3. "It's so loud": Noisy PG&E generators causing new problems for SF residents (ktvu.com) — Richmond District residents are enduring constant noise from massive PG&E generators brought in after a recent fire knocked out power to a third of San Francisco. While electricity is back, neighbors report sleepless nights, anxiety, and potential hearing risks as the generators run nonstop near 24th and Balboa, with no clear end date yet from PG&E.
   

4. Disabled BART train causes major delays between S.F. and East Bay (sfchronicle.com) — BART riders between San Francisco and the East Bay faced major delays Saturday after a disabled train near West Oakland required a rescue train and forced cancellation of the red line. Green and blue lines were briefly diverted to MacArthur, and some passengers still needed extra transfers as officials worked without a clear timeline for full normal service.
