4 Arrested After 300 Teens Gather For Bay Area Melee

BRENTWOOD, CA — About 300 juveniles were involved in a melee Friday afternoon outside two adjacent Brentwood shopping centers that resulted in five arrests, police said.
The incident at Sand Creek Crossing and Streets of Brentwood prompted a police response about 3:30 p.m.
Several businesses within the Streets of Brentwood closed early to protect staff and property, police said Saturday on social media.

Juveniles entered several businesses and knocked goods off shelves and ran through traffic on Sand Creek Road.
At one point, officers stopped a vehicle with their weapons drawn because it was reported that the driver had a firearm, police said. No weapons were found, and no one was taken into custody.

Four juveniles were arrested for misdemeanor violations, and one was arrested for battery on a peace officer, police said.
"We will not tolerate this kind of behavior in our city," police said in an unsigned press release. "Disorderly conduct, violence, and any form of assault on law enforcement or civilians will be met with immediate and appropriate enforcement action."
Brentwood police were assisted by officers from Oakley, the California Highway Patrol and the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office.
