America's Best Food City Is In CA: Ranking

OAKLAND, CA — Oakland is America’s best food city, according to the readers of Condé Nast Traveler.

The Bay Area community came in at No. 1 in the publication’s 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Food Cities in the U.S., Condé Nast Traveler reported.

“There’s no wrong neighborhood from which to start exploring Oakland’s staggeringly diverse food scene,” according to Condé Nast Traveler, which highlighted Burdell and Pizzaiolo in Temescal as well as the birria tacos in Fruitvale. “The city also has a strong taproom and winery tasting room scene, making it easy to plan your entire visit around eating, drinking, or some combination of the two.”

Oakland was followed in the ranking by New Orleans at No. 2 and Chattanooga at No. 3.
