Bay Area Flights Delayed And Canceled As Storm Wreaks Travel Havoc
For a second consecutive day, stormy weather played the Grinch for holiday travelers, delaying or canceling more than 100 Bay Area Flights.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Stormy weather wreaked havoc on holiday travel plans for the second day in a row Tuesday as low clouds and gusty winds delayed or canceled arriving and departing flights at the San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose airports.
The National Weather Service forecast up to 2 inches of additional rainfall around San Francisco through Thursday, flagging a risk of thunderstorms developing Tuesday.

According to KRON4, Tuesday's weather delayed more than 100 flights at the San Francisco International Airport and canceled two departures headed to Sydney and San Diego. At least 14 flights were delayed at San Jose International Airport, with eight impacted at Oakland International Airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the arriving flights were delayed nearly an hour on average Tuesday morning, with departures running up to 30 minutes behind. The latest round of travel headaches followed a chaotic Monday morning, when stormy weather impacted more than 200 flights across the Bay Area.
Forecasters expected rain totals to top 2.5 inches in San Francisco between Monday and Wednesday, with more than 3 inches favored in the North Bay and South Bay.

While the weekend should provide a break in the weather heading into Christmas Eve, new projections for the Climate Prediction Center show a moderate risk of heavy rain impacting California again next week, with heavy snow expected over the Sierra.
