Jing Ying Gift Shop has a welcoming presence on the corner of Grant and Clay streets. They specialize in “natural crystals and real jade”. One is immediately tantalized with the immersion of so many beautiful and cute and giftable items. They range from crystals and jewelry to statuettes from the Chinese folk religion and old coins. There are beads and bracelets and necklaces galore to be had here. Do not forget to get yourself a Buddha and rub his belly for good “运气(運氣)”, yùnqi in Mandarin, wan6 hei3 in Cantonese – or: luck, fortune, fate, destiny. There are also rings, earrings, and chakra trees! The employees let you get settled for a moment before offering help and are not pushy which was great. When I had questions they did answer them and they offered lots of help. The shop is a bit tight on space; but it is both roomy enough to get around and to fill up with customers too! I loved all the sizes of amethyst I saw, which really got my healing crystal hertz going. There were also beckoning cats with their swinging arms looking adorable. Any pagan will see the appeal of this store as well as the crystal balls available for sale that can easily serve as decor or fortune teller’s friend. The jade was the best part coming in all kinds of shapes, sizes, animals, charms, forms, and of course Buddha. The store is immaculately organized and categorized to make shopping simple and easy. The shop is a must visit for anyone with esoteric or metaphysical inclinations and also crystal lovers and aficionados of religious trinkets. It is easy to get to from the Muni line 1 that passes out front, the Central Subway station line T from Chinatown station 2 blocks away. Walking in from the Financial District or down from Nob Hill cable car lines and Union Square hotels is also an option.
