SAN FRANCISCO — As the weekend wraps up, we've rounded up all the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

But before we jump into Northern California’s top stories: An unseasonable blast of heat will give way to much cooler temps and a good chance of rain for most in the Bay Area.

According to the National Weather Service, the weekend heat toppled daily records, including a high of 92 degrees in Oakland on Saturday and overnight lows that broke or tied records in San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Watsonville and Monterey.

The week ahead should paint a more fall-like picture, with noticeably cooler temperatures and even a few showers in the forecast to kick off the workweek.

"Light rain looks to start in the North Bay by Monday morning, spreading to the rest of the Bay Area by midday," NWS Bay Area forecasters wrote Sunday. "Amounts are expected to be on the lighter side, with the highest being about two to three-tenths of an inch in the North Bay and only a few hundredths elsewhere around the Bay Area."
