NORTHERN CALIFORNIA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should expect gusty winds and rain later this week as a series of storms is headed to the region, according to the National Weather Service.

"Pleasant weather today, under mostly sunny skies," NWS San Francisco forecasters wrote Monday. "Cooling trend sets in Monday with increasing rain chances beginning late Tuesday night. Gusty winds and periods of heavy rainfall are expected Wednesday with high surf conditions persisting into Thursday. Another disturbance will bring more widespread rainfall next weekend."

In other news, three boys were arrested after an attempted home robbery in the Bay Area. One put a gun to the head of a woman at the home, police said.

Also, a Northern California driver was caught using a dummy in a carpool lane; a police officer shot an armed man threatening his neighbors; and hundreds rallied in San Francisco and other Bay Area cities on International Women's Day.
