Kite Surfer Rescued From Bay A Mile Offshore
A kite surfer who lost his sail and was stranded a mile offshore was rescued by San Francisco firefighters Saturday afternoon.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A kite surfer who lost his sail and was stranded a mile offshore was rescued by San Francisco firefighters Saturday afternoon.
Land and Marine units responded to Hunter's Point State Park just before 5 p.m. after the kite surfer called 911, the Fire Department said on social media.

Dispatchers used technology to locate the coordinates of the cell phone call to direct a rescue boat, the department said.

Rescue Boat 35 found the kite surfer and brought him safely to shore. Paramedics examined the surfer and determined he was unharmed, according to firefighters.
