Meet An “Amazing” Who Gives Infants A Great Start In Life
Linda Owens, 78, was the honored for her service to the San Francisco-area when she took in her 81st infant as a resource parent.

Linda Owens, at 78, was the honored recipient of a Jefferson Award by CBS affiliate KPIX-TV, for her meaningful service to the San Francisco-area when she took in her 81st infant as a resource parent. A retired grocery store department manager, Linda has fostered these 80+ babies on her own over a 34-year period, a truly astonishing feat of care and compassion. Especially given that many of these babies are newborns who were exposed to drugs in the womb, some with developmental delays, most experiencing difficulty sleeping through the night.
Linda has loved caring for babies since she was a youngster herself, and does all she can to help give these infants a good start in life. According to Mia Buckner-Preston, Placement Division Director of the Alameda County Department of Children & Family Services, which places children in foster homes, Linda’s devotion is unparalleled among resource parents. What a blessing she is, indeed.
