The forecast high temperature for Tuesday for the city was 92 degrees as of Tuesday morning, with a predicted high of 88 degrees expected to follow Wednesday, according to the weather service, although the service noted the downtown area could reach as high as 96 degrees.
“Light offshore winds will erode the marine layer each morning, spiking coastal temperatures relatively early in the day,” the weather service said Monday in a short-term area forecast discussion addressing predicted events through Wednesday. “During the afternoons, we are expecting onshore flow to increase, moderating coastal temperatures a bit.”
Coastal temperature fluctuations in the coming days could be as drastic as changes of more than 10 degrees over the course of 30 minutes, according to the service.
