Marin Readies To Celebrate 'Día'
El día de los niños/El día de los libros, commonly known as "Día," commemorates childhood literacy, diversity and inclusion.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — The Marin County Free Library will hold an event in San Rafael next week commemorating the 25th anniversary of a day that commemorates childhood literacy, diversity and inclusion.
The Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros (Children’s Day/Book Day) celebration will be held at noon April 30 at Pickleweed Park (50 Canal St.).
El día de los niños/El día de los libros, commonly known as “Día,” is a “nationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children from all backgrounds,” according to a website dedicated to commemorating the event.

“The celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds,” the website says.
The San Rafael “Día” event is among three the Marin County Free Library is holding.

It will also hold Día events in Marin City (at noon April 30 at George “Rocky” Graham Park) and at Point Reyes Station May 1 (at 10:30 a.m. May 1 in front of Cowgirl Creamery at 80 4th Street).
