Paige Murphy Pitches No-Hitter As Archie Williams Blanks Novato 10-0

The freshman pitching standout struck out a career-high nine batters and walked one.

SAN ANSELMO, CA — Paige Murphy has had several outstanding outings in her young career.

On Wednesday, the Archie Williams High freshman pitching standout was nearly perfect.

Murphy pitched a no-hitter as the Peregrine Falcons blanked Novato 10-0 in a Marin County Athletic League game that went six innings.

Murphy (3-4) struck out a career-high nine batters and walked one.

Murphy bounced back nicely after an uneven performance in her most recent outing; she walked six and gave up eight runs (three earned) in five innings April 1 in a 10-8 nonleague loss to Sonoma Valley.

The right-hander who plays shortstop when she’s not on the mound has emerged as one of the region’s top young pitching prospects.

Murphy has a 1.88 ERA with 60 strikeouts and 16 walks through 56 innings.

Senior Abby had two hits including a double and three RBI and sophomore Amelia Richer had a double, a triple and drove in two to lead Archie Williams (6-9, 3-5 MCAL) offensively.

Paige Murphy owns the school's first no-hitter since it changed its name in May of last year. The school was formerly named after Sir Francis Drake, a 16th century slave trader.
