San Anselmo Completes Center Boulevard Sinkhole Repair

The sinkhole appeared April 11th on Center Boulevard between Sycamore and San Anselmo avenues.

SAN ANSELMO — A four-foot wide sinkhole that emerged last week in Central Marin has been repaired and a main roadway was reopened, San Anselmo officials aid.

The sinkhole that appeared April 11th on Center Boulevard between Sycamore and San Anselmo avenues was caused by erosion and a damaged storm drain near the San Anselmo creek, town officials said.

The repairs required an excavation and the creation of several new concrete support structures and retaining walls, the repair of a collapsed storm drain line and roadway improvements, town officials said.

Town Public Works staff began work on the repairs as soon as the problem was discovered and several local contractors adjusted their work assignments to be able to help the Town do the required work quickly and efficiently, including

Town officials credited staffer who responded with a sense of urgency and several contractors who adjusted their work assignments to help get San Anselmo moving again.

Van Midde Concrete did the support structure work, Miksus Services completed the storm drain pipe repairs, and Nerviani Paving closed the deal by paving the roadway.

“Big kudos go out to our Town staff who stepped in and worked overtime to get this done, including Assistant Public Works Director Scott Schneider and Building Official Erica Freeman along with others in the Public Works Department,” town officials said in a statement.

“As with all of the Town's major projects, providing engineering design, bringing in partners to do the work quickly and leading the way all around was our Public Works Director and Town Engineer Sean Condry. Thank you Sean and your team for giving your all to the Town day in and day out.”
