Store Clerk Shot, Suspect Arrested

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Police arrested an Oakland man over an armed robbery and shooting at a 7-Eleven store in San Leandro earlier this week.

Around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, their officers responded to the 7-Eleven store at 525 Williams St. after receiving a report of its clerk being shot. Upon arrival, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, police said.

Surveillance footage from the store reportedly showed the suspect entering the store and accosting the victim at gunpoint. The suspect then shot the victim before fleeing from the store with stolen cash.

Police said the victim was transported to a hospital and listed in stable condition.

According to detectives' leads, the suspect was 30-year-old Anthony Craft of Oakland. He was tracked to the 1400 block of 105th Avenue in Oakland.

Craft was arrested Thursday on suspicion of attempted homicide, robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon and resisting/obstructing a peace officer, along with an outstanding warrant for robbery.
