Almost 10K Without Power In SF Bay Area

Storm-related outages persist around the region, PG&E said.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Almost 8,500 PG&E customers in the Bay Area were without power on Monday morning as storm-related outages persist around the region.

The North Bay has the "largest number of those without power, with 4,944 customers affected" PG&E told Bay City News.

In the South Bay, 3,158 were without power, and the Peninsula had 226 affected. The East Bay had 76 without power and 5 customers were affected in San Francisco.

"PG&E crews continue to work on restoring customers who are experiencing extended outages from the storm activity this past week while preparing for the next wave of extreme winter weather, which has already arrived in some parts of our service area," said PG&E spokesperson Tamar Sarkissian.

PG&E is reminding customers to visit its power outage map to see the status of power outages throughout the area. The map can be accessed here.

"All customers are urged to prepare for potential outages," PG& E said in a twitter post.

Tips for power outage preparation include keeping important phone numbers handy, having a backup plan for any life support equipment, keeping your cell phone charged having a flashlight with extra batteries in a convenient place, protecting sensitive electronic equipment with surge protectors and keeping refrigerator and freezer doors closed to keep perishable food safe for eating.
