Eggs being dyed with botanicals in San Leandro, Calif. (Miyo Burnett)

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Have you considered dying Easter Eggs using plants from your garden or kitchen? Miyo Burnett ended up with very earthy colors when she tried the following:

  • Beet leaves & parts for pink
  • Turmeric for yellow
  • Carrot tops for green
  • Brown eggs wrapped in onion skins & dill leaves.

What do you think of her experiment? Will you give it a try? Miyo thinks the eggs will be harder to find when hidden for a Easter Egg hunt.
