EAST BAY — The East Bay Regional Park District is urging visitors to stay vigilant during October, a time of peak fire risk due to warm temperatures, dry conditions, and seasonal winds.

Last Friday's 5-alarm Oakland Hills Fire is a stark reminder of how quickly lives may be placed at risk.

Park officials closely monitor weather to adjust fire danger levels and may implement safety measures, including park closures if necessary.

Visitors are encouraged to follow fire safety rules, be aware of Red Flag Warnings, and report any fire sightings by calling 911. For more information, visit the East Bay Regional Park District website.
