False Report Of Middle School Shooting Leads To Police Investigation

San Leandro Police received a call regarding a shooting at Washington Middle Manor at 11:41 a.m.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — A false report of a shooting at a San Leandro middle school led to an investigation and road closures in the 1100 block of Fargo Avenue in San Leandro early Tuesday afternoon.

According to a post on X, the social media site formerly known as Twitter, San Leandro Police received a call regarding a shooting at Washington Manor Middle School at 11:41 a.m.

Officers arrived on scene and could not locate any evidence of a shooting, or the original caller, San Leandro PD said in the post.

A separate Nixle alert was first sent out to subscribers shortly after noon announcing the closure of the 1100 block of Fargo Avenue "due to an active police investigation."

Even though they found no evidence of the shooting officers remained on the scene, working with school personnel and conducting a safety check of the school, a second Nixle alert said.

Police cleared the scene and the roadway reopened to traffic at 12:50 p.m.
