Man and Woman Plead Not Guilty in Fatal Shooting in February

Oakland, CA— A woman and a man pleaded not guilty today to a murder and attempted murder charges stemming from a drive-by shooting in West Oakland in February that killed one man and wounded another.
Alameda County Superior Court Judge Paul Delucchi scheduled a Sept. 26 preliminary hearing for Rosalyn Green, 21, and Daniel Casey, 32, who are charged in the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Albert Easley of Oakland in the 1000 block of 24th Street near Linden Street on Feb. 11.
Oakland police Sgt. Richard Vass wrote in a probable cause statement that Green ordered the shooting, saying that Green had been assaulted by another man early on Feb. 11 and called Casey to retaliate.

Vass said Casey found the man, drove by him in the 1000 block of 24th Street near Linden Street at 11:10 a.m. that day and shot him as well as Easley.
Both victims were taken to a hospital, where Easley died about 90 minutes later. The other man survived.

Police quickly identified Casey as a suspect, obtained a warrant for his arrest and arrested him in the 2400 block of 24th Avenue in Oakland on Feb. 17.
Police said that when Casey was arrested, officers found him with a loaded stolen gun and determined he was on probation for a 2013 conviction for receiving stolen property. He was charged with being an ex-felon in
possession of a firearm in addition to murder and attempted murder.
Green was arrested on April 17 near the corner of Shattuck and Ashby avenues in Berkeley. Green and Casey are both being held at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin without bail.
