Mariachi Band To Play At Grand Opening Of New San Leandro Restaurant

Wildly popular Habibi's Birria brings its MexiTerranean food to San Leandro, with a Grand Opening on Saturday.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — When Habibi's Birria opened in a space attached to a Valero gas station in Hayward it quickly gained a following and opened a second Hayward location. Now it is bringing its tacos and other delights to San Leandro.

The eclectic menu is described as MexiTerranean food and includes Birria Tacos, Quesa-Birria Tacos, Lamb and Beef Gyros, Chicken Shawarma Wrap, Pistachio Baklava and plenty of other choices.

To celebrate the new restaurant at 403 Lewis Ave. in San Leandro, a Grand Opening celebration will be held on Saturday. It kicks off with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:45, then runs from 10 to 5. A mariachi band is scheduled to play from 11 to 1.

The original Habibi's Birria was selected for a list of the 17 best taco destinations in the East Bay put together by Eater SF.

According to the Habibi's Birria Instagram page, here are their three locations:

  • 403 Lewis Ave, San Leandro
  • 138 Jackson St, Hayward
  • 26005 Eden Landing Rd, Hayward

Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
