San Leandro Businesses Set To Transition To 100% Renewable Energy
The move to 100 percent renewable energy is part of the city's attempt to achieve its climate action plan.
SAN LEANDRO, CA — The city of San Leandro will transition all businesses to 100 percent renewable energy in October, it was announced Monday.
According to a news release issued on the city’s website, Monday, Aug. 8, the move comes about following a June 2021 San Leandro City Council decision to set the default electricity option for San Leandro businesses to EBCE’s Renewable 100 service.
The move to 110 percent renewable energy is part of the city’s attempt to achieve its climate action plan.

The city receives its electricity from East Bay Community Energy, a local energy provider supplying green electricity to the East Bay community.
“Since 2018 EBCE has been the default supplier of electric generation service for all residential and commercial accounts in San Leandro,” the city said in the release, adding that the 100 percent renewable energy will be provided through EBCE.

EBCE will be hosting two webinars, one at noon on Aug. 23, 2022, and a second at 9 a.m. Sept. 13, 2022, to review the basics about their service and to answer any questions. More Details and registration are available online at ebce.org/san-leandro.
According to the news release, residential customers in San Leandro were placed on Renewable 100 in March 2022.
Those wishing to not be automatically enrolled in the program can call 833-699-3223 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or can visit ECBE’s website and click on “Remain on Bright Choice” by Sept. 22, 2022.
Customers can change their EBCE service or return to PG&E service anytime, the city said.
