San Leandro Hot Spot Makes Best Sandwich List
A new list of the best sandwich restaurants in the Bay Area includes a San Leandro eatery. Have you tried it?
SAN LEANDRO, CA — There's nothing quite like a sandwich for lunch! From piled-high pastrami to ooey-gooey grilled cheese — you've probably perfected your own favorites in your kitchen, but if you are looking to try a sub shop, cafe or deli, the Bay Area News Group recently put out a list of 16 restaurants to try around the Bay Area.
Several East Bay eateries made the list including Bara’s Deli in San Leandro.
"This family joint dating from 1986 has dozens of sandos on the menu, from classics like the Cali-Club and turkey-cranberry Gobbler to customer inventions," BANG writes.

The Bay Area Special has roast beef, ham and roasted turkey layered with lettuce, tomato, pickles, mustard, mayo and garlic aioli, and squished into a sweet and doughy roll.
Bara's is open from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays. Find them at 14799 Washington Ave. in San Leandro. Check out the deli's website.

Other East Bay shops included in the BANG list are Domenico’s Delicatessen and Cafe of Danville, Sideboard in Lafayette, Waterfront Deli in Alameda, Americano in Livermore, Morucci’s of Walnut Creek, Carnitas el Canelo in Richmond, and Mirchi Meat & Deli in Fremont.
