San Leandro Man Killed Running Across I-880

     A man who was run over and killed on an Oakland freeway Sunday
night has been identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau as
44-year-old David Mayorga of San Leandro.
           Mayorga crashed his Honda Civic into the center divider on
northbound Interstate Highway 880 near High Street and then attempted to run across four lanes of traffic at about 7:45 p.m., according to the California
Highway Patrol.
           In his attempt to cross the lanes, Mayorga was struck by two cars
and fatally injured, CHP Officer Sam Morgan said.
           Both drivers who struck Mayorga stopped and assisted the CHP with
inquiries, Morgan said.
           The cause of the initial crash remains under investigation.
           The crash blocked traffic on northbound 880 for several hours.
