San Leandro Mayor Takes On National League of Cities Leadership Role

SAN LEANDRO, CA — San Leandro Mayor Juan González has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2025 Small Cities Council, a role that will allow him to collaborate with local leaders nationwide.

The one-year appointment, announced by NLC President Steve Patterson, Mayor of Athens, Ohio, will focus on developing programs and policies to support small cities.

"I am honored to join the National League of Cities’ Small Cities Council and represent San Leandro on a national stage," González said. "This is a great opportunity to collaborate with fellow local leaders, share innovative solutions, and advocate for the unique needs of small cities like ours."

His participation is expected to help shape initiatives that improve local governance and enhance the quality of life for residents.

NLC President Patterson emphasized the importance of having a broad range of voices in the council, stating that leaders like González help ensure that small cities receive the support and resources they need.

The 2025 Small Cities Council leadership will be chaired by Mary Sarver, Mayor Pro Tem of Grandview, Texas, with Vice Chairs Rashad Roberts of Chadbourn, North Carolina, and Gloria Solorio of Avondale, Arizona.
