San Leandro Shooting Death Arrests

A San Leandro man was gunned down in his driveway by two men armed with an AR-15 rifle, according to police.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Two brothers were charged Monday in the shooting death of a 53-year-old man in his San Leandro driveway during an attempted robbery earlier this year.

The shooting occurred as Anderson Choy was pulling into his driveway on Benedict Drive about 6:30 p.m. on May 5, San Leandro police said.

Two suspects, one carrying an AR-15 rifle, approached and allegedly fired one shot into the car, hitting Choy in the neck.

Choy died at the scene, police said.

Investigators used surveillance footage and other evidence to identify the suspects as 18-year-old Erick Moreno and 28-year-old Mauricio Moreno, both Hayward residents.

The brothers were arrested separately on Sept. 19.

A third suspect was initially arrested for being an accessory to the homicide but was released later the same day.

The suspects were charged Monday by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
