SAN LEANDRO — The San Leandro Unified School District fired a substitute teacher over allegations he was grooming 7th grade girls for sexual abuse in private Instagram messages, according to a report in the East Bay Times. The teacher, arrested in September, was identified in court filings as Francisco Fegurgur, who has also been banned from ever working at John Muir Middle School again.

The report, written by Nate Gartrell, also states that the accused man is married to Melissa Fegurgur, a member of the SLUSD school board, who was appointed in August 2023.

The Instagram messages included comments such as “I’m going to kidnap you,” asking a girl if she was sexually aroused, and telling a girl that he wanted to “cuddle,” according to the report.
