SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo police arrested four young people Sunday who are accused of stealing high-end fragrances from a Sephora store. In a news release Monday, police said loss prevention officers called 911 to report three people had taken a large number of pricy items and ran out of the store into a car waiting in the mall parking lot.

One of the loss prevention officers copied down a license plate number and vehicle description and provided it to police.

Officers later found the vehicle attempting to merge onto Highway 101 and began a traffic stop. Police said 26 bottles of fragrances were found inside the vehicle, together valued at more than $3,500. All four occupants were arrested.
