Caltrain To Cut Fares In Half, Increase Service To Record Levels

SAN MATEO, CA — Caltrain will cut fares in half during the month of September and increase service that will surpass pre-pandemic levels.

Beginning Aug. 30, Caltrain will run 104 trains per weekday, which is higher than any point in its history, according to a news release. During peak commuting hours, there will be four trains running per hour, with the addition of hourly Baby Bullet express trains.

The service updates also include the restoration of a third Gilroy train and an improvement to the timetable for BART connections at the Millbrae Transit Center.
