Congresswoman Speier Hosts Russia 101 Conversation

From The Office Of Congresswoman Jackie Speier: Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA-14), a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, will host a conversation with former Russian Ambassador Mike McFaul on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 3 to 4 p.m. at the San Mateo City Council chambers, 330 W 20th Avenue.

“The possibility of Russian tampering with our 2016 presidential election is casting a dark shadow over our democracy,” Speier said. “This conversation with Dr. McFaul will provide an opportunity to discuss the Russia and U.S. relationship, what went wrong and what’s at stake.”

McFaul, one of the country’s leading Russia experts, served for five years in the Obama administration, first as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Russian and Eurasian Affairs at the National Security Council (2009-2012), and then as U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation (2012-2014). Ambassador McFaul is now Professor of Political Science, Director and Senior Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, and the Peter and Helen Bing Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

This is one in an ongoing series of “Conversations about America” that Rep. Speier has hosted since the election of President Trump. So far she has held one town hall in Pacifica, two in San Francisco, two in San Mateo, and one in Half Moon Bay.

This event is at capacity due to a limited number of seats in the council chambers. We ask the media not to invite additional people to attend the event in person, but to watch it on Congresswoman Speier’s Facebook page or on public access channels Comcast 27, AT&T 99 or Astound 26. Only people with tickets will be admitted to the council chambers.
