Fire At San Mateo Middle School Prompts Evacuation

A traffic alert was issued for the area of Abbott Middle School, where students were let out early. No injuries were reported.

SAN MATEO, CA — Abbott Middle School was evacuated, and students were released early after a small bathroom fire broke out Friday, San Mateo Police said in a 2:30 p.m. advisory.

The fire has been extinguished and no injuries were reported.

“The fire is out and there is no cause for concern,” police said in a news release.

Police said there is a large presence of both students/pedestrians and cars in the area creating traffic concerns.

Parents are advised to pick up students at 36th Ave. and Alameda de las Pulgas, police said.
