Man Arrested In Human Trafficking Sting In San Mateo County
During the operation, officers contacted several survivors of human trafficking and connected them with resources and services.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A multi-agency human trafficking operation in northern San Mateo County led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man and the identification of multiple trafficking survivors, authorities said Friday.
The operation took place Thursday and involved the South San Francisco Police Department's Human Exploitation and Apprehension Team, county law enforcement agencies, the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office and the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center.
During the operation, officers contacted several survivors of human trafficking and connected them with resources and services provided by advocates from Rape Trauma Services, police said.

In one contact at a hotel on Gateway Boulevard, officers encountered a 22-year-old woman and a man later identified as Jose Rafael Diaz of San Ramon, according to the South San Francisco Police Department.
Diaz, a convicted felon, was reportedly pandering the woman and was in possession of a loaded, concealed, and unregistered firearm with a high-capacity magazine during the commission of a felony, police said.

Diaz was arrested without incident and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for allegations of pandering and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
