Man Found Dead in Car Off Highway 101 ID'd

The driver apparently suffered a "medical emergency," and the car's headlights and motor were still on when police arrived.

A man found dead in his Mercedes off a U.S. Highway 101 embankment early Wednesday morning has been identified as Martin McGinn, 55, of Foster City, according to a report from the Mercury News.

An officer spotted the car crashed off the southbound side of the highway just south of the Hillsdale Boulevard exit around 4:05 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Art Montiel said.

McGinn had apparently suffered a "medical emergency," police said.

The car's headlights and motor were still on when police found the car. Emergency personnel pronounced McGinn dead at the scene.

Montiel said it appears McGinn died due to a "medical emergency" and not because of the crash, though no final cause of death has been determined and the wreck remains under investigation.
