Mountain Lion Trapped In Classroom At CA High School

Students and staff were at school Wednesday morning when the mountain lion entered the building, according to the sheriff's office.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A mountain lion entered school grounds at Pescadero High School on Wednesday morning, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

The lion was contained to a classroom and all students and staff were reported safe at 9:18 a.m. Wednesday, according to the sheriff's office.

The mountain lion, believed to be a young cub, was contained to an English classroom by a "swift-acting custodian," according to an update by the sheriff's office.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was dispatched to the school for "safe and humane removal of the animal" and return it to the wild, according to the sheriff's office.
