One Killed in Crash Near Devil's Slide
The crash was reported in the vicinity of the Tom Lantos tunnel just before 3:30 a.m.
Both directions of U.S. Highway 1 were closed just south of Devils Slide in San Mateo County early Saturday morning due to a fatal crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred in the vicinity of the Tom Lantos Tunnels just south of Pacifica, the CHP said.
According to the CHP, only one vehicle appears to have been involved in the crash, which was reported at about 3:25 a.m. A Sig-alert was issued at about 3:40 a.m., the CHP said.
One person was declared deceased at the scene and no other injuries have been reported, according to the CHP.
The roadway was expected to remain closed in both directions until about 6 a.m., the CHP said. The cause of the crash remained under investigation and the name of the deceased has not yet been released.
