Peninsula Catalytic Converter Theft Suspect Caught In The Act: Cops
The suspect, a 40-year-old Oakland man, was arrested on suspicion of grand theft, conspiracy and resisting arrest, authorities said.
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A South San Francisco catalytic converter theft suspect was caught in the act after officers responded to the report of the crime in progress, police said.
The suspect, a 40-year-old Oakland man, was arrested on suspicion of grand theft, conspiracy and resisting arrest and booked into the San Mateo County Jail, police said.
Officers on Friday night responding to the 300 block of Aspen Avenue on the report of an in-progress catalytic converter theft “located a suspect actively stealing the catalytic converter from a vehicle,” police said.

The suspect attempted to flee into an awaiting vehicle, but officers captured him after a brief foot pursuit, police said.
The suspect vehicle fled the area and led the Colma Police Department and California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit that was terminated once the vehicle reached Oakland.
