Peninsula Officials Encourage Earthquake Preparedness

The warning comes after a 3.8-magnitude earthquake rattled the San Francisco Bay.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA -- San Mateo County officials on Tuesday encouraged residents to prepare for an earthquake, one day after a 3.5-magnitude earthquake rattled the San Francisco Bay. The earthquake, which struck two miles east of Oakland, was felt throughout the area Monday evneing.

Officials encouraged residents to stay connected to emergency alerts in case a major earthquake strikes the county. Residents can sign up for SMC Alert here.

Officials also encouraged the public to set aside supplies in case of emergency such as water, a first aid kit, flashlights, batteries and canned foods.
