Possible Gas Leak Investigated In San Mateo County, Determined To Be Nonhazardous: Police

SAN MATEO, CA — Officers closed a road Wednesday in San Mateo to determine if there was a gas leak and ultimately determined the odor was coming from a parked car, police said.

At 4:15 p.m., the San Mateo Police Department sent out an alert that they were closing 13th Avenue between B Street and Palm Avenue to pedestrians and cars to investigate a gasoline odor. Residents on the 100 block of 13th Avenue were told to shelter in place.

At 6:30 p.m., police said the county hazmat team responded to the area and determined the odor coming from a parked car was nonhazardous.
