Receive A Giants Jersey For Donating Blood In San Mateo County

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — In efforts to shore up a significant blood shortage, the Stanford Blood Center is giving out free Giants jerseys in August.

Those who donate blood from Aug. 1-31 will receive a limited-edition San Francisco Giants and Stanford Blood Center co-branded jersey.

All blood types, especially O, are urgently needed. Summer travel and busy schedules make blood collection challenging. Make an appointment at stanfordbloodcenter.org, via the SBC app, by calling 888-723-7831, or texting 999-777. Walk-ins are also welcome.

The Stanford Blood Center faces a critical blood shortage due to high demand and low appointments. They are urging the community to donate and help meet the needs of partner hospitals.

This shortage is compounded by the fact that their largest and busiest location, the South Bay donor center in Campbell, is closed for essential renovations until August.

Summertime, particularly July, typically presents challenges for blood collections. Many regular donors are traveling, and the closure of schools for summer break means a loss of usual blood drives.
