San Mateo Residents Lose Power

By Bay City News Service

Power was knocked out to 1,175 customers in San Mateo Thursday  afternoon, a PG&E spokesman said.

The outage started at 12:49 p.m. after a line was reported down near South Delaware Street and Pacific Boulevard, utility spokesman Jason King said.

Power had been restored to all but two customers as of 5 p.m. Those customers should have power back by 7 p.m., King said.

The cause of the downed wire is being investigated, he said. San Mateo police tweeted about the incident and said there was a blown transformer in the area. People were advised to stay away from the area until about 1:30 p.m.
