San Mateo Standoff Prompted By Woman Accused Of Domestic Violence

Police say the woman sent one officer to the hospital and kicked another at the jail.

SAN MATEO, CA — A 48-year-old woman was arrested for barricading herself inside a San Mateo apartment after an alleged domestic violence assault Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded at 2:50 p.m. to a report of an assault in progress in the 1800 block of El Parque Court and as they arrived, Lolita Roberts ran back into her apartment and barricaded herself inside, according to police.

The victim told police that Roberts assaulted him and threw several items at him during an argument that occurred in front of their 9-year-old child, police said.
