SAN RAFAEL, CA — A homeowner fired shots at a man who was trying to break into the back of his San Rafael house Friday morning, police said. The homeowner didn't know if the intruder was struck by gunfire, and police did not find a suspect in the area, Lt. Dan Fink said.
Police responded around 10:05 a.m. to a report of someone breaking a window to enter a residence in the 200 block of San Marino Drive. The homeowner fired shots at the area of the attempted break-in before police arrived, Fink said.
The suspect is described as a stocky male in his 50s, 5 feet 10 inches, 220-230 pounds with a dark complexion and dark hair. He was wearing dark colored pants, with a black baseball cap and possibly was driving a silver early 2000s' Mazda or similar type of station wagon, Fink said.
