Car Thief Caught Sleeping In Stolen Car In Marin County: Police
The car was stolen in a southern part of the county and found several towns away.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — Police caught a a 28-year-old man sleeping in a car Wednesday in San Rafael ,which had been reported stolen earlier that morning in Sausalito.
On Wednesday morning, San Rafael Police officers said they overheard a Sausalito Police broadcast about a car that had been stolen in their city.
That broadcast included a GPS tracking for that car, which led officers to the area of Louise Street in San Rafael’s Canal Neighborhood.

When officers arrived, they said they immediately found the car parked on the roadway.
Police said they approached the car and found Julio Gomez-Bolanos, 28, of San Rafael, asleep in the driver’s seat.

Officer said they arrested Gomez-Bolanos and booked him into the Marin County Jail for being in possession of the stolen vehicle, drug possession and committing a theft with priors.
The stolen car was recovered and returned to its owner.
