K9 Sniffs Out Drugs For Sale During Traffic Stop In Marin County: Police

During a routine traffic stop, the K9 "Tango" alerted officers to suspected drugs, police said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — A police K9 found suspected drugs for sale in a 35-year-old man's car during a traffic Sunday morning in San Rafael, police said.

Early morning Sunday, San Rafael Police Department officers pulled over a driver, Edgar Alexander Aguilar, 36, of Novato, in a car with vehicle registration that had expired two years ago.

During the stop, their K9 "Tango" alerted officers to the presence of drugs coming from the car, police said.

Police said they searched the car and found suspected drugs, cash, packaging and a scale. They also found more drugs and a pipe on Aguilar, police said.

Officers said they arrested Aguilar for possession of narcotics for sale and booked him into the Marin County Jail.

"This was great police work by our K9 Officer and “Tango” who were able to take dangerous narcotics off the streets of our community. We appreciate their proactive policing to make our community safer," police said.
