Kidnapped Woman Rescued In Marin County, 3 Suspects Arrested: Police

The suspects drove the woman to an open space and threatened her with a knife to prevent her from fleeing, police said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Officers responded to a call from a woman who said she had been kidnapped Saturday night in San Rafael and when they arrived to the scene — they heard her screaming for help, police said.

Just before 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, San Rafael Police Department officers said they received a call from a woman who said she had been kidnapped and was being taken to an unknown location.

Police said they used GPS information and determined she was on Robert Dollar Drive in San Rafael.

The woman told officers the three suspects were in the car doing drugs and one of them had a knife.

Officers said they arrived within minutes and immediately heard the woman screaming for help. The officer said they drove towards the screaming and found the woman as the "involved suspect" fled the scene.

Officers stopped the car full of suspects a few blocks away and said they identified them as Sergio Godinez-Lopez, Christopher Monteroso and Jonathan Valenzuela-Castro.

Police said when they searched Valenzuela-Castro they found a concealed and loaded handgun with a high-capacity magazine.

Officers said they learned the woman and the suspects had arranged to meet up via an app in San Rafael Canal neighborhood.

But when they picked up the victim, the suspects changed the plans and she asked to be let go.

The suspects refused and drove to the open space of Robert Dollar Drive where they wouldn't the woman leave and threatened her with a knife.

The woman was able to call 911 and eventually escape. As she escaped she began to scream for help when the officer heard her.

Godinez-Lopez, Monteroso and Valenzuela-Castro were booked into the Marin County Jail, police said.

Valenzuela-Castro, 21, of San Rafael, was booked for kidnapping, conspiracy to commit a crime, assault with the intent to commit rape, carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possessing an unregistered firearm and possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine.

Godinez-Lopez, 24, of Vallejo, was booked for kidnapping, conspiracy to commit a crime and drug possession.

Monteroso, 21, of San Rafael, was booked for kidnapping, conspiracy to commit a crime, assault with a deadly weapon-knife and criminal threats.
