Marin Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested

The suspect, 43-year-old Orlando Ponce, is a San Quentin State Prison captain, The Marin Independent Journal reports.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — A San Quentin man was arrested Thursday in connection with a sexual assault investigation, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said.

Orlando Ponce, 43, was arrested on suspicion of forcible penetration on an unconscious person, the Sheriff’s Office said.

He was booked into the Marin County Jail on $100,000 bail, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Ponce is a San Quentin State Prison captain, The Marin Independent Journal reports.

The Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation of Ponce’s employment at the prison.

Ponce’s arrest culminated an investigation that began when the accuser contacted the Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 30 alleging the crime occurred in San Quentin Village.
