Marin Welcomes New Irish Festival This Spring

SAN RAFAEL, CA — The team behind the Dickens Fair is rolling out a new spring festival next month in Marin County, celebrating spring and all things Ireland. The inaugural "Ceili on the Lake" Irish dance and music festival will take over Lagoon Park at the Marin County Fairgrounds over the last weekend in April.

According to Red Barn Productions, local Irish dance studios will play a starring role in the event, performing traditional and modern dances and welcoming newcomers to learn a jig or two.

Revelers can also take in live Irish music, and even lend their talents to the "Musicians' Snug." The Redwood Empire Sheep Dog Association will be on hand for daily sheepherding demonstrations, and festivalgoers of all ages can learn more about Celtric history through poetry and story readings.

Crafters, artists and Irish organizations will host booths, and plenty of Irish favorites will be available from food trucks and the pub.

"We feel this is the perfect time to create a new celebration to share the joys of music, dance, good food, and drink with neighbors, family and friends," said Drew Patterson, the event's producer. "Irish traditions are well-loved and are meant to make everyone feel welcome."
