Mary Sackett Apparent Winner In District 1 Supervisor Race

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Mary Sackett is the apparent winner in Marin’s District 1 supervisor race, and the political aide running to replace her boss can avoid a November runoff if she keeps her current lead.

Sackett received 3,273 votes (50.5 percent) of 6,487 votes cast as of Tuesday at around 11 p.m. in the three-person race to replace outgoing Supervisor Damon Connolly in a district that represents San Rafael and surrounding areas.

Candidates in local races can avoid runoff elections by winning a simple majority of votes in their district.

Gina Daly was in second place with 2,383 votes (36.7 percent) and George Saribalis (831 votes) was third.

Eric Lucan is the apparent winner in Marin’s District 5 supervisor race, and all indications are the Novato mayor will avoid a November runoff.

Lucan received 3,535 votes (66 percent) of 5,355 votes cast as of Tuesday at around 11 p.m. in the four-person race to replace outgoing Supervisor Judy Arnold in a district that represents Novato and surrounding areas.

Colin Medalie was in second place with 996 votes (18.6 percent) and Kevin J. Morrison (597 votes) and Jason Sarris (227 votes) were in third and fourth place.

In the Superintendent of Schools race, John Carroll is the apparent winner with 67.2 percent of the vote.

Michelle Crncich Hodge (32.76 percent) was his opponent in the two-candidate race to replace outgoing Superintendent Mary Jane Burke, who earlier this year announced she would not seek reelection to an eighth term.
