Sex Abuse Lawsuit Targets Marin School District: Report

The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe, filed the complaint against the Tamalpais Union High School District on Monday, The IJ reports.

LARKSPUR, CA — A former Marin high school student earlier this week sued a local school district claiming it failed to stop a teacher from sexually abusing her more than 20 years ago, The Marin Independent Journal Reports.

The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe, filed the complaint against the Tamalpais Union High School District on Monday, the report said. The teacher is not named in the lawsuit.

The complaint includes allegations of negligence, and a failure to report abuse and failure to provide freedom from harassment in violation of state law, according to the report.

The plaintiff is seeking unspecified monetary damages in connection with “hundreds of separate assaults” that occurred between 1999 and 2001, according to the complaint, the report said.

“The district literally sent plaintiff back into the arms of her abuser,” the complaint states according to the report. “Instead of educating and protecting plaintiff, the district made plaintiff’s life a living hell.”
