Suspects Driving U-Haul Burglarize Car In San Rafael, Police Say

Of three people arrested in the burglary, one was determined to be an employee at a local U-Haul business, police said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — San Rafael police arrested three men Sunday morning for allegedly burglarizing a vehicle.

Just before 5 a.m., the alleged victim called police to say their vehicle was burglarized in the 200 block of Santa Margarita Drive.

The victim told police the suspects fled in a U-Haul van.

Responding officers watched surveillance video of the incident. Just after 6:30 a.m., officers spotted the U-Haul driving westbound on Fourth Street from San Anselmo. Police stopped the van and allegedly observed quantities of stolen property through the van's windows.

Police arrested the driver, 29-year-old Marco Antonio Vasquez-Paxtor of Marin City and the two passengers, 46-year-old Victor Manuel Orellana of San Rafael and 30-year-old Oscar Noe Nunez-Rivera of San Rafael.

Police discovered Vasquez-Paxtor was on Marin County probation from a previous stolen vehicle conviction and was also determined to be an employee at a local U-Haul business.

Vasquez-Paxtor, Orellana, and Nunez-Rivera were booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of felony vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and conspiracy to commit burglary.

Nunez-Rivera had an added charge of drug possession, and Vasquez-Paxtor had an additional charge of violating the terms of his probation.
